Frequently Asked Questions
About the Event
The IEEE Global Career Fair is a worldwide virtual career and workforce development event connecting engineering and technology talent with employers, industry leaders, and opportunities across the globe.
Following successful IEEE regional Career Fairs, IEEE is bringing its global community together on one platform for recruitment, networking, career development, and conversations about the future of technology and work.
The IEEE Global Career Fair will take place September 23–24, 2026.
The event follows the sun around the world, beginning at 9:00 AM New Zealand Time on September 24 / 5:00 PM Eastern Time on September 23 and concluding at 8:00 PM Eastern Time on September 24.
The event is 100% virtual and hosted on the vFairs platform. You can participate from anywhere with an internet connection.
Instead of asking everyone around the world to participate at the same time, the Career Fair moves across global time zones.
Programming and recruiter activity will progress from Asia-Pacific → Europe, Middle East & Africa → Latin America → North America, allowing participants and employers to engage during convenient local hours.
No. Join during the hours that work best for you.
You are also welcome to explore programming, employers, and opportunities in other regions if you are interested in international opportunities.
No. The IEEE Global Career Fair is open to both IEEE members and non-members. Registration is required.
For Job Seekers
The event is designed for engineering and technology talent at different career stages, including students, recent graduates, young professionals, experienced professionals, and individuals exploring their next career opportunity.
No. Registration and participation are free for job seekers.
Yes. We strongly encourage all job seekers to complete their profile and upload an up-to-date résumé before the event.
A complete profile helps employers discover you and improves your experience with the platform’s search and matching features.
Opportunities will vary by employer and may include internships, co-ops, graduate opportunities, full-time positions, experienced professional roles, and other technical and leadership opportunities.
IEEE’s community spans nearly every major area of engineering and technology. Participating employers may represent areas including AI and machine learning, software, cybersecurity, semiconductors, communications, robotics, automation, aerospace, energy, power, manufacturing, biomedical technology, data science, and more.
Yes. One of the advantages of the Global Career Fair is the ability to discover employers and opportunities beyond your immediate region.
However, employment eligibility, work authorization, relocation requirements, and hiring policies are determined by each employer.
Visa sponsorship varies by company, country, and position. Please review individual job descriptions and ask the employer directly about work authorization or sponsorship requirements.
Yes. Participating employers can engage candidates through their virtual booths using live chat and other communication features available through the platform.
Recruiter availability will vary by company and time zone.
You can still explore the company’s booth, learn about the organization, review available opportunities, and return during its scheduled recruiter hours.
We encourage companies to provide their recruiter availability so job seekers know the best times to connect.
The Career Fair platform includes AI-powered features designed to help job seekers discover relevant opportunities and help employers identify potential candidates based on available profile, résumé, and job information.
AI matching supports discovery; all recruiting and hiring decisions remain with the participating employers.
Yes. The Global Career Fair is also a workforce-development event.
Participants can expect professional-development programming, employer presentations, career-readiness sessions, industry discussions, networking opportunities, and conversations about emerging technologies, skills, and the future of work.
For Employers & Recruiters
The IEEE Global Career Fair provides access to a worldwide ecosystem of engineering and technology talent while giving your organization an opportunity to recruit, strengthen its talent pipeline, showcase its employer brand, and engage with the broader IEEE technical community.
No. Employers may participate whether they are recruiting locally, regionally, or globally.
Your organization can focus on the countries and opportunities most relevant to your hiring needs.
Yes — and we encourage it.
The follow-the-sun format allows multinational organizations to involve recruiting teams from different regions. Your Asia-Pacific, EMEA, Latin America, and North American teams can participate during the hours most convenient for them.
No. Companies are not expected to staff their booth continuously throughout the entire global event.
Recruiters should identify the periods when their team will be available and provide live booth coverage during those hours.
Companies can use their booth to showcase their organization and opportunities through elements such as company information, branding, job postings, videos, downloadable resources, recruiter information, and other available platform features.
Yes. We encourage employers to post all relevant opportunities they would like Career Fair participants to discover.
Detailed job postings also help improve candidate discovery and matching.
Participation may also support employer branding, future talent-pipeline development, technology visibility, and engagement with IEEE’s professional community.
Contact the Career Fair team to discuss the participation option that best fits your organization.
Speaking and thought-leadership opportunities may be available through employer presentations, panels, roundtables, technical discussions, and Global Forum programming.
Availability depends on program capacity, topic relevance, and participation or sponsorship opportunities.
After registering, participating companies will receive onboarding information and instructions for setting up their virtual presence, posting jobs, adding recruiters, and preparing for the event.
Pre-event platform orientation and support will also be available.
This is the one answer I recommend holding from publication until you finalize the Global Career Fair booth-fee and waiver policy. Your planning notes have discussed a standard booth fee with exemptions for certain IEEE relationships, so the public language should reflect the final approved policy rather than the evolving internal model.
IEEE Societies, Regions, Sections & Communities
IEEE Societies, Regions, Sections, Councils, Chapters, Student Branches, Young Professionals, Women in Engineering, and other communities can help by promoting the event, inviting companies, connecting the organizing team with industry partners, supporting career-readiness activities, providing speakers, and encouraging members to participate.
Absolutely. Warm introductions to employers are one of the most valuable ways IEEE communities can support the Global Career Fair.
If your Section, Society, Chapter, or Region has relationships with companies, recruiters, HR leaders, or industry partners, we encourage you to invite them to participate.
Yes. Opportunities may be available for IEEE Organizational Units to showcase relevant technical communities, programs, resources, and professional-development opportunities.
